As you all have noticed, Jackson Township has had an unusually wet spring.  And with all that rain brings rapidly growing grass and weeds to kick off the mowing season. The Nash Family Jackson Amphitheater received Visit Canton & ArtsinStark Tourism Grant

CANTON – Visit Canton and ArtsinStark has awarded an additional $123,295 in cultural tourism grants to 16 Stark County organizations. These awards are in addition to the $219,064 awarded earlier this year. “Community partners continue to impress the committee with new partnerships, new entertainment offerings, and reimagination of staple community events to boost tourism in our community,” ArtsinStark President and CEO David Whitehill said in a prepared statement. “Through this grant partnership, we are able to support these new projects and attract people to encounter our unique cultural experiences.” Organizations, communities and businesses received funding: Jackson Township for the Nash Family-Jackson Amphitheater 2023 Weekend Concert Series,$7,000.

(NYSE: FE) is encouraging customers of its Ohio electric companies – Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company and Toledo Edison – to evaluate electric supply offers from competitive suppliers that fit their budget and protect against rising energy prices this summer. Jackson Fire Department new Fire Captain Luke Ediger

April 10, 2023

Congratulations to Luke Ediger who has been promoted to Fire Captain. Luke joined the Jackson Township Fire Department, Stark County, Ohio in 2004 as a firefighter. He decided upon his career path when he was visiting a college and fell in love with the fire service and helping others. Beyond the fire service, he enjoys traveling, hiking/backpacking, exercising, coaching wrestling, teaching Sunday school, and spending time with his wife and two children. He is excited to contribute to the department, its members and to the community. We thank you and wish you continuous growth with your promoted responsibilities.

Electric Utility Rate Increases

Electric Rate Increases Residents may have seen recent news articles discussing upcoming increases in the utility’s default supply rate (the price-to-compare) for Ohio Edison and AEP Ohio.  As in every year, in June the utilities announce their new supply charges, which are set by a series of auctions, for the following year.  This year those supply charges are expected to increase significantly due to rising market conditions over the past year.  AEP Ohio has said they anticipate an approximately 28% increase in the bills for those on their default supply, and reporting estimates that Ohio Edison’s default supply rate will…

Eagle Scout Joseph Lynn makes presentation to Jackson Police Department

March 15, 2023

At the March 4, 2023, Jackson Township Board of Trustees meeting, Boy Scout Joseph Lynn from Troop 927 presented the Jackson Police Department with 26 Bail Out Bags.  As an eagle scout project Joseph raised $4,000 through private donations and purchased the bags.  Included in the bags are quikclot, tourniquet, chest seal, nasal airways, door stoppers, scissors, window breakers, zip-ties, gloves and a sharpie.  Joseph said, “I hope that someday if there is ever a tragedy in Jackson Township, that these bags can save lives” Thank you, Joseph, for including us in your Eagle Scout Project.

VIP Tour of the Jackson Township Fire Department

Congratulations to Everett, as the winner of a special, behind-the-scenes, VIP tour of the Jackson Township Fire Department, Stark County, Ohio. He drove his own fire truck into the bay and parked alongside the big fire trucks then had breakfast at the firehouse with B-Shift.
